Why Is Diversity Hub Different?

“Diversity Hub helped me to see what I was capable of when I thought I didn’t have much left to give. After experiencing a breakdown, I volunteered on Fun Laughter Talking to boost my confidence. I found it incredibly difficult at first – was too anxious to work with the children. But a member of staff was there to listen to me, without judgement. With her support, I could start to cast off the critical thoughts in my head. I could believe in myself again.” Daniella

There are many organisations, private, public and voluntary, offering ‘diversity’ training or ‘leadership’ programmes. Mostly, they have a menu of courses and a set of ideas to put across. They bring flipcharts and hand-outs, briefings about legislation and attendance certificates.

There is a time and a place for that kind of training, but Diversity Hub offers something different, more personal and perhaps more practical.

We start from where people are, not where anyone thinks they should be.  We believe that everyone has the capacity and the right to play a leadership role, at the right time and in the right place – therefore creating opportunities for people to gain skills and confidence for everyday leadership.

Our programmes are not packaged so that everybody does the same thing mid-afternoon on day two. They are:

  • Experiential journeys, taken together in a safe and supportive environment.
  • Flexible, designed to meet the participants’ particular needs, anxieties and interests, with space to explore them.
  • Upbeat, challenging, interesting and active.
